I'm dithering up to 16 pixels after every frame, although the dithering sometimes doesn't execute correctly (or at all). Didn't think it would impact the frames but I guess I should pay a little closer attention.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Thanks always for your quick response.
The 1000 DN took the checker board pattern out of the low rejection image, but didn't have an appreciable effect on the faint mottling in the master image
I checked the darks as you suggested using your pixel…
So I ran the O3 images through WBPP again setting the pedestal to automatic. Resulted in DN of 1000, which the process console helpfully labeled as "Huge!" so I'm assuming that is undesirable.
Would an increase exposure time help resolve the issue?
Thanks Adam. I’m sure you’re correct. I wonder whether this data is salvagable if it is combined with additional data that has been dithered in both axes. Do you have any thoughts on that?
I bllinked the raw images with a star at the vertical edge of the frame and it definitely doesn't wander horizontally.
My guiding program is set to dither only in RA so maybe that's the issue, although I've never encountered the issue before and ha…
Ok. Let's start again. I revisited your video on pedestal's and realized that I applied the pixelmath method of locating pixels with zero values to an integrated image rather than a calibrated image. There are indeed lots of zero-value pixels. I ran…
My capture software is set to dither to a maximum of 16 pixels (see attached image). Blinking the uncalibrated frames shows a random shift of the stars along a straight vertical line There is no movement horizontally.
I've also attached an image of…
Thanks for the response, Adam.
I used your pixelmath approach to identify pixels with a zero value but found none. So I'm guessing its not an over subtraction. Any other thoughts?
Actually. Ignore my last inquiry. The culprit was the first file in the stack. For some reason it couldn't be solved and thus the integrated image couldn't be solved either. Sorry to have troubled you.
Yeah. I bought the 1600 used because it was about a1/3 the price of at 2600. Penny wise / pound foolish. I might try playing around with the processes you discuss in your diffraction repair video concentrating on reducing the green, which appears t…
Apparently the ASI 1600 is known for this effect (my research was deficient it seems). I guess I'll have to figure out some way to eliminate it or reduce it in post-processing.
Thanks for your replies
Thanks for your reply, Adam.
I have completed the Fast Training, although admittedly many months ago, and many others of your excellent instruction videos. I’ve been using an OSC until now.
You are right. I’ve been tracking the filter type in the…
Does WBPP group images by filter in post calibration? I didn't set the filter type in APT when I captured the images so the FITS header doesn't contain this information. If WBPP relies on this information to group images in post-calibration is there…
