Well, congratulate your gut appropriately. Once I gathered some new data with the correct offset of 20 to match everything else, it all fell in line and gave me nicely calibrated masters.
ThanksWes
Interesting comment about the ha/sii subs effectively being dark frames. I never imagined a difference of 0.0025 would be significant ... but .... I subtracted off .002 from the sub and calibrated with the master flat and master dark using PixelMath…
OK, this gives me something to look at. I have of course examined the values of the bias and dark frames. They are pretty uniform, right around .0024-.0025.
The Ha/SII subs are really dark, background around .005 ± .0003. The defects in the subs ar…
This is the only way I've made progress at all on my over-correcting flats. I found that by adding a pedestal (output, not input) in image calibration, I could get a master flat that doesn't over correct.
Hi, Adam
Back again, this time with a different dataset. Everything taken at same gain offset, and temperature (approx).I examined the dark frames, bias frames, and flat frames fairly closely. One thing I did notice is that the calibrated flat frame…
HiI'm looking at a second, older set of data that is more consistent. Everything is taken at gain100, offset 256. These were probably the defaults that came up from the driver when I first connected the camera.
The master dark and master bias are pr…
Thanks, Adam. All I asked for was a guess :DThe raw data doesn't seem to show it in Ha.I re-processed using only the most recent couple of nights of flats, and the problem did not manifest :DNo gunk

I now believe that the problem is with the camera itself. I took full sets of photos using two different cameras, the ASI 2600 MC and the ASI 533 MC. The master light for the 2600 shows a strong gradient from green to magenta, and also the dust donu…
Per our discussion, I put a folder with the results of shooting without a filter here. There is a very slight gradient in the light frames, I think it's in the opposite direction of the gradient with the filter on.
Thanks
Hi,
I was using EXPTIME because I was processing 30, 60, and 120 second exposures, all in one run. I had darks of the same exposure times for the lights.
Are you saying to not use any filters at all with an OSC? If so, is there any use for these so-…
No, not double filtering. It means I tried three different filters, singly, and got similar results.
I'm enclosing screen shots of the wbpp setup, the autostretched integration image, and the (unstretched) master flat. I don't think there is a dark …
