WBPP results not as expected.

Hi Adam,

Fundamentals is a great program and worth every penny.

In the Control panel of WBPP I get all green check marks and the usual diagnostic message of calibration will be done with Bias not Darks.

After processing when I open the Masters, all I have is a Master Flat for each of LRGB along with a Master Dark and a Master Bias.

If I go back to the Control Panel, Bias, Darks, and Flats are all Masters.

In Diagnostics there are two messages - Pre-Process Configuration and Post-Process Configuration.

What am I doing incorrectly?

Hank

  • When you open WBPP a second time, it automatically puts the newly created master calibration file in the list. So the preference is that where a master file exists, it will chose that over raw files (like you had before you ran WBPP).

The pre-process and and post process configuration you had *both* times. Likely the first time you didn't notice because there was information there in addition to these statements. The second time, since there are masters, there are no warnings or other messges. So you just see the headers for pre/post reports.

The pre-processing report says any information regarding the calibration of files- the post processing says how the files will handled and grouped with respect to registration and image integration. Since you likely did not have a keyword in play- there was no special grouping and thus nothing to say.

I don't think you are doing anything incorrectly.

  • Sorry, Adam, I didn’t express myself very well. Under “Masters”, I have Master Bias, Master Darks, and Master Flats. What I don’t have is any Master Lights.

  • Sorry... above you mention not seeing things in the Control Panel. You will never see "Master Lights" in the control panel. This is output.

If you checked both image registeration and ImageIntegration in WBPP, only then will "Master Lights" be outputted. By default WBPP only does calibration if you do not check anything. Master Lights, if created, will be in the Masters folder.

I think to understand your question, you need to make some screenshots and circle where you think the problem is. I am still of the belief you are doing valid things...but there is a misunderstanding somewhere.

  • Hi Adam,

Dumb mistake #47. ;-) I didn't have Image Registration and Image Integration checked. I just ran WBPP and everything turned out as it should.

    Thanks for the help.
