How to manage overly green bias in SHO due to strong HII data

Hi Adam,
I regularly run up against an issue with narrowband after Channel Combination using SHO mapping and DBE and Photometric Color Cal.  Whilst still in linear the image has an overly green bias with and without linking channels with STF.  If I apply SCNR it obviously removes the green bias (I try 100% to 50%) leaving a somewhat washed out / neutral.  Intuitively if I go non-linear and then play with Hue / Sat in curves (for example) I can play with color balance and hue adjustments.

My question is: is there a "good" way to manage the green bias and where in workflow might that occur?  Is it doing things with Hue adjustments or Color Mask as I've tried.  I've searched on this forum and checked your Fundamentals but there's nothing (that I can find) that explicitly deals with the green issue.  Appreciate your insight!
Cheers, Les

  • Hi Les,

I don't have a good answer for you at the moment. I plan on making some NB videos very soon.
I *can* tell you that my method/technique will not be what you describe. For example, I do not know why PCC would be part of the process? I also would not employ SCNR.

If you can hang on for a bit, I plan on making some for Horizons soon.

  • Thanks Adam.  I'll need to have a think about investing in Horizons..there's so much to consider in Fundamentals!  Keep up the great work.
