SPCC

In order for Image Solve to work, I had to use BlurXterm at default settings. I then had a successful astrometric solution. Only the View Explorer, not the Fits Header, showed the astrometric solution. I am not sure why it didn't show in both View Explorer and Fits Header.

I then followed carefully Adam's steps for SPCC and then the error of not enough samples, only 4 and 5 required. I then watched x2 Adam's video on solving this problem. As I watched I followed each step with my own image. The result after starting over 2X from the beginning: No stars found channel 1.

I tried to decrease SNR (if that is appropriate) and still no change.

Again, help will be most appreciated. Thank you. I have attached the xisf file post BTX and astrometric solution.

  • Can you please show me the video where I state it is in the Fits Header? This changed (it is no longer true) and it appears you are watching an older video. I need to make certain my website is correct.

Regarding SPCC, I do not believe you got the steps quite right. The file you have presented to me is a permanently stretched image. You need to do SPCC before stretching the image. SPCC relies on measuring star (profiles called the PSF or point spread functions) to match stars in your image with the stars in the GAIA catalog.

If you tried to do SPCC on this stretched image, it will certainly fail.

  • Started over and all is fine. Finished Fast Tracks and now working on WBPP in depth in Fundamentals. Fantastic videos! The reason I initially stretched and then HT: I followed the videos from beginning and assumed HT was an initial step. If I understand now, work as long as you can on linear image and hold off until the end. Correct?

Last question for now: Are there some processes or scripts that can only be done on a non-linear image?

Again, thank you. Without your videos PI would have been a waste of $$$$.
