WBPP Also Including RGB Stars

Hi,

I have collected about 35 hours of LRGB subs (240 seconds each) on M101. I have also collected about 45 minutes of RGB subs (30 seconds each) for RGB stars. Is there a way in WBPP that will generate masters for each of the 240 second LRGB channels and also generate individual 30 second RGB masters for the stars that are all aligned with one another?

Normally I run WBPP twice. First pass for 240 sec subs and second pass for the 30 second subs and then I star align all of the masters to one another.

  • Yes, WBPP already basically does this for you.
It will automatically create masters for each different exposure time (unless you increase the post calibration exposure telerance). So all you need to do is specify a registration reference frame manually that will apply to both stacks. By default WBPP will pick a reference for each stack.. but you want the same reference. So just change the "Auto" to Manual and select a frame. I doubt it matters if you choose one from the 30 second or the longer exposure... maybe the 30 second is best.

  • Nice, I was hoping for a straightforward answer. Thanks for saving me time!
