Data from STF not transferring to HT

I have watched all parts of the STF and HT. When I make my changes in STF(using Process) and click and drag the new instance to the bottom bar on the HT window, the numbers do not change as shown in the Part 3 video. I am using a mac Sonoma 14. In HT below the 16 bit If I select "no view selectd" or select my image to view where I made the STF changes, still no change in the transferred  data. What I am doing wrong.

  • Would you by chance be doing this with an unlinked color image?

  • I am not sure what you mean as I am just starting. The image is RGB and was stacked from Celestron Origin. I did the STF and made some changes. I then clicked and dragged the new instance and the parameters did not transfer when dropped on the lower HT bar as seen in Adam Blocks Part 3 STF&HT. Thank you

Yes, I explain this effect. When you transfer the STF of a color image- the Lightness (RGB/K) values will not change. In the HT tool if you click on the any of the color channels you will see the change in parameters just like in my video. Again, the reason you are not seeing a change is because you are visualizing the Lightness information.

I explain and demonstrate at precisely 13:25 in this video:

Let me know if this answers your question.

  • Just to be clear. I unlink in STF and then click the automatic button. I then link the channels and make a further adjustment. Then I click on the New Instance and drag it to the bottom of the HT window. No change occurs for the parameters.
  • You need to specify "no change occurs" for which channel?
Did you see my video? At 14:55 I explicitly show and explain.

You are doing the right thing...but I am saying you will not see a change by looking at the RGB/K *channel* .
There are FOUR channels to look at.

Think about this another way... If you adjust a color image unlinked... this means each Red, Green, and Blue channel as a different STF adjustment... so what should it show you in the HT parameters? The Red answer? The Green answer? You see.. you need to select the channel you want to see the parameters change...and it will not show any change for the "K" channel.

If you can show me some screenshots... or maybe ask me a question so I can explain it in a different way.

  • Also... I think something you might be missing is that when you work with a color image you are actually working with THREE images simultaneously. It is so easy to think it is a single image. It isn't.

  • Thank you. Yes, for me learning is one step forward and then 2 steps back to re-watch and listen to your great videos. Then it becomes transformed to 2 steps forward. I now understand. Very glad I purchased the full Fundamentals. Again, thank you.
