Looking for specific videos for wbpp combining different types of data

I am using an osc (2600mc pro).

Here are the videos I am trying to track down:
1) several nights with an L-pro, several with L-enhance. Therefore, flats are different lengths (but all lights are 120s 0g 0c).
2) All nights using same filter, but one night has Lights at 15 sec, one night 60 sec, and one night 120 sec. Therefore matching darks. I think this one is where I'd set the exposure tolerance at 115 to get them processed together, but when I tried that, it rejected more than half, which tells me I did something wrong.
3) How to use pixel math to combine master lights . . . this would just be what I'll do if I cannot accomplish the above--I have processed each night of the above successfully and can just combine them via pixel math, but I believe there are specific considerations for how to combine them depending on the result I'm going for (could also be there are processing steps that do this like LGRB working space that help me get the colors balanced nicely)

I've watched the videos that address these situations, and many more, so I know it's all addressed, but I cannot seem to track down the vids after a couple of hours of scrolling through them (I could've just passed over the parts, so if I know which vids they are in, I can re-watch the whole video).

Thanks everybody!
jon

    Hi Jon,

There isn't a specific video but I do explain... it is all in terms of WBPP setup/configuration.

    1. You said the "flats are different lengths"... maybe you just meant you had different flats. As long as your files record the proper filter name- everything will work. If you do not have the "L-pro" and "L-enhance" in the file names you can put them there with Add Custom or permanently put them there with BatchKeywordEditor. All of which I explain.

    2. Yes, this is the correct method with the exposure tolerance. If frames are being rejected- it is likely because the normalization is not correct. It could also be an image quality thing. You would need to show your WBPP configuration (all panels) and show some screenshots of regstered images and show a rejected one and an accepted one. You just need look at the intermediate output files to figure out what is going on. It should be obvious.

    3. My preference is to concentrate on #1 and #2. For #3... you can combine them, at a minimum, weighted by their exposure time. So, 0.125 * 15sec_masterlight + 0.375*60sec_masterlight + 0.5* 60sec_masterlight.  (I think that adds to 1 right?) This is absolutely a lazy inaccurate way. The right way is to weight them properly... and WBPP will do this via #2.

  • Ya, 3 is sort of my last option . . . My cousin lives in Western NC, right in the bullseye of all the flooding. She loves pictures of space and I'm going to try and get her a couple of nice images printed on Acrylic or Metal of her favorites for Xmas, so I've got a little time to figure it out...but in a pinch. . .

Yes, I have different flats. Since the filter name isn't in the file name, I believe that explains why I only got 1 master flat from the different flats (lpro and lenhance).

Headed to bed for now, but am going to rename and re-run to see what happens. Then will pull some screenshots etc.

    Thanks!
    Jon
  • If I do get you on the right track... please let others know.
    Thanks,

P.S. I will not apologize for having too much content. :)  Knowing how to do many things and addressing everyone's questions in videos I think is the point. It does lead to quite a library of material.
I do plan on reorganizing the site soon... but if you have suggestions on how to find information better (that does not double the amount of time it takes me to create the content)... let me know! Increasing the time to make the content is OK... as long as people are willing to pay for that work. I am trying to keep my ratio of quality content/cost as high as possible.
  • Oh gosh no, I still agree that you should never apologize for having too much content! Creating a table of contents for every video would be an impossible feat, and I don't think it's something that you should be expected to do. This whole thing is your project and I'm glad it's here--it's our job as users to ask questions if we don't know where something is located--quite often other users will know the answers (I'm continually amazed at how responsive you are . . . I still think you are harboring some secret space-time portal that gives you an infinite amount of time to figure this stuff out, make the videos, write code for the software AND get in the field to collect data!)

I think if you crank out the content exactly as you are then you are doing exactly what you should be doing, especially if you enjoy doing it! All of us can come ask on this forum, on Cloudy Nights, etc. as there are plenty of people out there who will know right where to look.

If I ever seem frazzled, just disregard--I'm usually just sleep deprived from work. I just got home today from a trauma response myself, so haven't even cracked PI open! Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow creeps in it's petty pace ... thankfully there's astrophotography to keep it interesting!

I'm sure what you've already provided will get me in the right direction!
