FastTrack vs Fundamentals and the correct path to follow

I finally have time after retirement to watch/re-watch the  FastTrack and Fundamentals videos and I find the content immensely educational.  I'm trying to follow the path you've laid out which indicates that one should watch the FastTrack videos before the Fundamentals.  However, during the viewing of some FastTracks,  you often indicate that one should watch this or that Fundamental first.  Though you've said to trust you, I'm confused.  Should I stop viewing a particular FastTrack and instead watch a Fundamental as you suggest it?  Or am I making too big a deal out of it all?

  • Well... the issue is some content is derived from other places at other times. It is tough when I re-record content to accommodate new features or methods...but some older videos remain because they are references. So here are some points:

    1. I will not steer you off-course if you take a detour and come back. I have done my best to suggest a reasonably logical way to consume the information- but it isn't perfect. If you feel taking a detour would be distracting- they just stay the course.
    2. Often the beginning videos (FastTrack and QuickStart) have a lot of information that I simply cannot cover. However, I have to fight the urge to explain. The thing is that most content creators do not actually explain how or why things are and I do not want to be just another one of those. So, I will sometimes suggest watching something that is "ahead"... but the reality is most of the information needs to be learned in parallel and not in linear sequential outlay.
    3. This is the reason I created the Fundamentals Path which is my best effort to do something sequentially... but it isn't perfect. (I assume you are referring this https://www.adamblockstudios.com/articles/the-pixinsight-path )

So... I am not certain that answers the question. It is all good information and I should very rarely contradict myself (do point out any significant instances). So it is really up to you the student to make the decision given whatever your constraints are in attention, time and motivation.

  • Thank you, it's all good. I just finished the WBPP FastTrack video and I have to say I'm blown away.  For years I've done it the hard way, spending hours creating masters, doing CC, etc.  WBPP feels almost like cheating.  I have a lot to relearn and habits to change.
  • I am sure this question has been answered ad nauseam by Adam and others. I have just started the Stretch Academy portion of the course. Is there a particular order of viewing that is encouraged? I understand the most recent videos are at the top. So I am assuming (we all know what that means) I should start at the bottom and work my way up? Just asking for a friend LOL. Thanks

  • Hi Phil,

In terms of the subsection of Stretch Academy... you would start at the top and work your way down the page.
Not everything requires  the previous section- so skipping around is OK. However, the first concept sections are the ones I think are important. I also may at times mention other videos- you might want to pursue them as well if you have access.
