I've taken about 5 1/2 hours of 60 second images of the Orion Nebula in Ha-Oiii with my OSC (an ASI533MCpro at default gain [100] and offset [50]). Before stretching, I can see the core details and (I think) the Trapezium Cluster but after stretching, it's so blown out, I get very little detail.
Since I can see it before stretching, I'm "assuming" ;) the data's there. Should I not be able to retrieve this data?
I've tried to follow the masking in "NGC1491 Permanent Stretch and Blend with Masked Stretch" but I really get nothing like what I see before stretching.
I'm still new to this having had to watch the previous video, "NGC1491 BXT Small Star De-emphasis," two or three times before I understood the concept. I may not even be asking the right question.
Thanks,
Joel
