Problem permanently stretching SXT stars-only image

I permanently stretched a stars-only image from SXT and got a large checkerboard of colors overlaying the image.  NB starless linear image is fine.  NB image was created via NBColourMapper with BXT to sharpen.

    This is not the correct STF for the stars only image. Please review my recent video on exactly this subject.
    (Also, if you use large overlap the checkerboard will likely not be an issue...but it is irrelevant... you would never stretch your stars-only image in this manner.

    Thank you for your reply.  Your video was very informative, and my problem is resolved.  It helped me to understand the STF setting for the stars_only image.
