Adding RGB stars to only a Ha image

I often add RGB stars to a HOO or SHO narrowband image and it works fine.  However, I am not sure how best to add RGB stars to only an Ha image and get a Ha-like red color to the nebulosity and not make it look like I just added red to it.  Any suggestions how best to do this?

  • I was thinking of trying the NBRGB combination script but only using the R channel.  I can test that once I have all of the data.
  • Well. you only have one set of values. You can use the NB ColorMapper script to choose any color you like (red, magenta, chartreuse... whatever). However, you need at least two sets of values to have variations that I think you are looking for... otherwise, yes it will look at you just colorized the screen with a single color as far as the nebulosity is concerned. You need at least two (different) values from two images.
