Searching website, videos and searching PI forum

Hi Adam,
I really like your updates to your website, ie videos sections.
Could you provide some advice related to the below questions. I am not complaining anything. Your website and videos are amazing. But I do have some questions...
1. When logged-in and searching from your home page (next to logout) where is (or is not) the search happening? Is it searching only titles of videos?
2. If I go to this Pixinsight Forum and search, is the search only for Pixinsight Forum discussions?
3. After I search as in item 2, I get results and also see another search box open up. Is searching this new box same as searching in item 2?
4. Does the search algorithm (for  example a 2 word search)  looking for all words in a search to get a result, or any of the words, or the exact phrase?
5. I know if I search at your homepage, next to logout, I get video results. Is there any particular order to the results?

As a practical matter I was looking for (your) latest video on Normalized Scale Gradient script (or just your using it during processing as in Horizons). I get 8 pages of results. I am not sure where to start as no date listed until I go to the particular video. So what is the order?

Somewhere I remember your posting about putting keywords for your video content, (like maybe #noisereduction), but I cannot find that now. I would like to review it, or related.

Thanks,
    Roger

  • Hi Roger,

    1. The search covers all pages that are "articles." Any text on an article page will come up in a search. That category pages I do not believe are searched (and these do have titles). Videos are on article pages. I am trying to do my best nowadays to add text on video pages so they will come up in results with the right keywords.

    2. I do not know! (I have not tried)
    3. ... I do not know!
    4. I do not know!!
    5. I do not know how the algorithm determines the results. It might be chronological. I haven't checked though.

When I say keywords...I just mean I am putting words in sentence form at the beginning of videos that have words a person might search for.

  • Hi Adam,
Thanks for your candid answers! I should explore my questions myself.

You might consider having your website administrator to give Google Search Console access to your website. After done, and there are several steps...
When someone searches for content on your website using Google Search, they will see the password-protected pages in the search results, but they will need to enter a password to access the content.

To me the power to your customers is they search by any of the Google combination of keywords as we all do to find content.

    Just my idea!

  • None of the articles are protected or non-public. (only videos)
So all content is available to be searched by google (even now).
I think the current search might be better though.

The quality of the results are really determined by the language I use. This is something I am working on.
