Updates & Manage Update Repositories

I added the links highlighted in the early fastback video.  such as https://pixinsight.astroprocessing.com/.
I started having issues when I would check for updates.  I would get a message.. a number of updates downloaded , ready to install.  But then the update will fail installation and the log file would indicate something like " no permission to write file", or permission to delete file.
like this:
Error: Unable to delete file: Permission denied: /Applications/PixInsight/doc/docs/PIDocReference/images/eqn_0009.svg
[2024-01-12 18:16:44] End updater1: ERROR

I'm on a Mac  M2.   I know how to set permissions to give PixInsight permission to access all file, to write and modify so I was baffled.     It had always worked fine for the last 4 versions of PixInsight.    I finally chose the "Reset Updates" option.  I reverted back to only those  "update-xxx.auth" files.     I am using 1.8.9-2.    I did update to the new version of graftXpert.

  I am starting to watch some YouTube videos now about this topic.        Any insight would be appreciated.

  • Hi,

    I am a little confused. I do not think I am referencing NSG in FastTrack Training.
    Can you show me where I am? (maybe you are looking at an old version...I have updated it many times as PixInsight has changed). But even in the old versions...I did not cover normalization. I save that for later.

    let me know.
    thanks,

  • Back to those updates.   I had that problem again.   But this time..I emptied the trash.  I think just dumping a folder in the trash on my Mac is not good enough.  Unless I empty the trash, it finds the old exe.   So no error messages about updates now.   Also, I tried to post a before and after training pic of M31.  I tried to put a link in for Telescopius.  It did not work.  But you can go there and see those two images. That’s all I have on that site.
