What Files to Keep with WBPP

Hi Adam,

I am currently re-stacking most of my data through WBPP after watching your NGC 1491 workflow. I am using my bias frames to calibrate my flat frames as all of my flat frame exposure times are under 30 seconds.

I am curious to know what files are worth keeping once WBPP is finished. I have a feeling that it is definitely worth keeping the master calibration frames as they can be reused again once I add more data to a project, but I am also thinking whether I should keep my registrated files or not. Another reason I am asking is I am currently keeping everything WBPP produces, and it is starting to chew up my external hard drive space pretty quickly.

  • Yep. At a minimum I keep my masters, my raw files (including the raw calibration files). Everything else can be re-generated. Keeping the calibrated-registered files (the last set generated) makes sense if you are going to take more data and want to add to what you have. Keep the log folder too. It will tell you what your reference frame was.

  • Awesome, thanks for clarifying Adam!

I thought that was the case with the master files. I will also now be keeping the log folder as well so I can refer to it and select the same reference frame if I add more data to a project.
