"checkerboard" artifact

Some time ago Adam produced a video that dealt with a skewed checkerboard pattern that arose during the early stages of processing. My recollection is that something that happened during registration was found to be the culprit but it manifested in the stacked image before any further processing had occurred. Unfortunately, I don't have any data that I am at liberty to share, and shows this phenomenon but the stacked image looked as though it had been imaged through a screen door with a very coarse mesh. I've been trying to find that video without any luck so far and I can't remember exactly when it came out.  It may have been a problem solving video with data that had been sent in. Anybody on the forum recall this vid? I'd like to give it another look.

  • never mind...I found it in a link from another post.
    thanks anyway!
  • There are a couple of videos on this.
But the main one is in Horizons. It is the M51 example where I demonstrate the issue and the solution.
The answer is that is the an oversubtraction issue... specifically due to the lack of a pedestal for NB data.

  • thanks. I knew I had seen it addressed, and that registration was involved...just couldn't remember exactly when or where (senior moments seem to get more common as I age)
