Changing my computer

I've been using a 4-year old Intel-based iMac with PI for the past 3 years, In those halcyon days you could actually add RAM yourself so I ungraded to 48GB.
I'm now considering upgrading to a M3 iMac. Bearing in mind how outrageously expensive it is to upgrade the RAM at purchase.what is the ideal amount of RAM I would need to maximise the benefit I'd get from the increased GPU power?.

I now mainly image in mono with a ZWO ASI2600 so the file size of my subs is considerable.
Any advice ?

  • I cannot advise... but I can tell you I am using 64Gb of RAM.
(DDR5- 5600 ...hopefully this is good)

  • Thanks Blockhead
After looking at the reviews of the M3 iMac I think I'm going to stick with the old computer. It works fine just slowly and we all spend so much time gathering our data I prepared to spend time on the processing.
