Photometric Color Calibration

Hi Adam
I installed the latest updates in PI, and PCC is now completely different and I cannot use it. All the things I learned with the help of your videos seem to be useless now. There is little I can enter, and just applying the defaults fails on all images that I tried. Error is "The image has no valid astrometric solution". Any idea?

Thanks!

Hope you don't mind me "butting in".

PCC needs the image to have an astrometric solution to work.  You can do this at least two ways that I know.

First, WBPP can do it for you by checking "astrometric solution" under the "lights" tab.

Second, you can run the "ImageSolver" script under the "Image Analysis" pull-down on your processed image.

Once your image file has been solved, PCC should work fine.

  • thanks Ron. Of course I appreciate every "butting in". I was just frustrated because PCC worked fine in the past, and I cursed myself for ever doing any upgrades.

I guess they moved the "astrometric" info from PCC to other functions where they can be input. Of course without giving us a clue. But thanks again, I'll try that.

  • Yes, that was a change made a few months ago around the same time they released SPCC... which is a pretty big improvement over PCC.

  • Matt,

When you encounter a situation like this... please skim the "Pixnisight Path" in Fundamentals. It has the most up-to-date explanations of things including this stuff on astrometric solutions and SPCC. In fact, even FastTrack training was updated as well.

So I suggest when you know "upgrades" are causing a confusion...please let to my videos on the "path" to see the latest information.
