Ways of Dealing with Colour Noise Caused from the Optolong L-eNhance

Hi Adam,

Would you happen to know of any ways that one might deal with this colour noise caused from my Optolong L-eNhance filter? I've used the L-eNhance a few times now and have noticed that it always seems this colour noise always appears when I use it. I don't know what's causing it either, so I thought I'd ask on here.

I am currently reprocessing some data I shot of the Carina Nebula last week, and I can't seem to get rid of it completely in PixInsight. I did use a masked ACDNR chrominance only run to try and remove the colour noise. It does a good job on the starless image, but it seems whenever I try to add the stars back in, the colour noise comes back. The only way that I can really get rid of this noise is to take the processed image into Lightroom and cranking the colour noise reduction to 50 and by also selectively reducing the colour saturation of the noise.

I know this may not be the best method of doing it, but after looking back at a few images using this method, they don't seem "natural", and I would like to look for a way of retaining the "natural" look without an image looking like there's not much saturation in the background.

I did also use SCNR on the stars before re-integrating them into the starless image. I've attached a screenshot of the colour noise I am experiencing for reference.

    Are the whitish things in this image stars?
    This is OSC?
    Are you drizzling? (1x1)
    Any other processing after getting an integrated image?
    Is NXT in play (or possible?)

    Sorry Adam should have specified earlier.

    The white dots are indeed stars, it is a OSC image, no drizzling has been applied and NoiseXTerminator was used after making the image starless and running DBE a second time.

    The attached image is the final product after processing. The area I focused on is in the top right corner of the image. I can attach an image of what it looks like before any major processing if you like?

    At the moment I cannot look at the data... I am in the midst of finalizing this new method of comet processing (OSC). Publishing videos and materials now...

    This stacked image looks great. I do not see an issue.
    You are familiar with the concept concerning increased contrast of screen stretched images after DBE?
    (just making certain this isn't the issue)

    That's great to hear about the stacked image, glad it's nothing related to that.

    I don't think I have heard of the method you have described before, but it does sound interesting.

    If it's covered in one of your Fundamentals videos, I'll definitely go back and watch it as it might have slipped past me.
