Combine data from two broadband filters on an OSC camera

Hello, 
 I have been capturing data for a year on many targets with the ZWO IRCut Filter. 

I recently purchased the Optolong-L Pro filter which I hope will block out some more of the light pollution in my area. I have start to shoot with this new filter on targets that I have capture prior I am curious how to process the files. 

In preparing to process the new and old data I search for some insight. 
I watched the tutorial "Combining an old and new dataset"

Is the technique of using pixel math to blend the image the best way to do this type processing?

    It is one method our of many. 
    So is it a best way? No. 
    I think that is a special case- and mostly for demonstration of PixInsight capabilities. 
    Many of the things I post in Horizons are "experimental"... they are not all in some way edifices of rigor and standard practice. 

    I think this is actually a *benefit* of Horizons... to see new ways to approach various issues.

    Could you point me to the some of the other ways to process this data? 

    With all the advancements in processing I am sure there are many people who will want to go back and combine new data with old, and have the same situation of new equipment in there image train. 

    I believe I am subscribed to all both Fundamentals and Horizons. If you have any tutorials to show some options  would greatly appreciate you guidance. 

    Or if you have can point to a process not covered by your videos I would also be grateful.

    I don't have this. This is an advanced topic. Again you need to calculate the gain and compensate for differences in plate scale to maintain total flux in order to give the data the proper weights. 
    The above is the real answer. Beyond that you would just align and integrate all of the data together for the best results. It is simply determining the gain and flux factors you need to multiply images by in order to do this correctly. I stress correctly... you can certainly align and combine old and new data and get nice results. It is just it might not be entirely optimal.
