Red color in TIF files when completed the initial stretching

edited December 2022 in PixInsight
New to PI. I noticed that on most tutorials on Youtube states when one does their initial stretch there will be a green ting. Mine, red using an LPRO with a Hyerstar and ZWO533MC (OSC) on a C9.25. I go to the color SCNR and to rid the pic of the red. Is this the proper way? Tia...

  • Hi Rick,

    Whoah there ...
The initial stretch can be any color at all. I assume you mean the initial stretch of a color image that has not been color corrected (with say SPCC).

Do *do not* want to using SCNR to "fix" this. You need to color correct the image with SPCC and in particular specify a neutralization region as part of the process to remove any color bias (a fixed offset value in any particular color).

Can you provide a bit more information?
    Thanks,

  • Yes it is the initial stretch which has not been color corrected at all. I will go the route you suggest. I am curious as this is my first time trying to use PI with the Hyperstar. Would the Hyperstar induce the red tint? I noticed with my GT71 the tint was green on its initial stretch at I noticed on most tutorials.
What other bit of information can I provide for you? It was at 120sec, gain of 101, AM5 Mount, ASAIR Plus for camera control.
    Thank you for responding!
  • No..the tint can come from a number of things. It could be a result of the debayer process or the bias color of the sky or a result of the normalization of images (this one is likely it). Again, it is not important unless there is an underlying error which manifests itself in some additional way.

So please, use "standard" steps and everything should be OK!
