Installing Star catalogues

Just beginning this long journey and have downloaded the gd3  and the gd3sp star catalogues.

Now trying to install them.. In PiS I go to processes>gaia  but the data release drop down menu shows only Gaia EDR3 and Gaia DR2 but no GD3 or GD3SP.

Updates says there arenet any.

How do I install these?

  • You need to download the latest version of PixInsight from your account.
In addition, you need to check you repositories (after getting the latest version) and make certain they only refer to 1.8.9-1 .

  • Hi BlockHead,
I am having the same problem as the original poster, in that, in trying to install  the downloaded gdr3 and gdr3sp files as per Adams video. In the Gaia menu dropdown there are only "Gaia EDR3" and "Gaia DR2" choices, no gdr3 or gdr3sp choices, so the loading fails as seen in my attachment. I have the latest software distribution namely "1.8.9-1 build 1556...what do you feel could be my problem? There are no "repositories" or updates listed...thanks in advance.

  • I am having a different problem when installing, but given the title of this topic, decided to add it here vs. start a new topic. As background, I had Gaia installed several months ago but, starting this training 'fresh' elected to do it again. I re-downloaded the files, cleared the ones in my PixInsight and selected the new files. Pressed on the 'Apply Global' and the process window showed the files were being read. However, a warning appeared: '**Warning No output file path has been specified". I see 'Output File' as a field on the Gaia process panel but can't determine if I should put something in that field (and unsure as to what I might type in there); in any case, that field was not populated in the lesson video. All suggestions welcome. Thanks!
  • Yes, do not worry about that output. That is not a problem. My suggestion to run the process was basically a sanity check. You can just uncheck the box to generate an output file. Again, when you are using ImageSolver- it uses this process.. you are not using it manually.

The person above had the issue of confusing the early release data (EDR3)... which is indeed a different problem.

As long as ImageSolver does its thing on an image.. you are all set.
