Request for Criticism of Image

Hi Adam,

I'm interested in constructive criticism of this IC 5070 image that I posted on Astrobin using what knowledge I thought I picked up watching your videos. Similar to other images I've posted, it garnered very few likes. So, I'm wondering where I've gone wrong.

    I don't see anything wrong with the image.
    You chose to have high contrast for the dark portions. They look almost black. This means there is no difference in the attenuation of light due to the contrast. The nebula is also flat in its overall brightness. The average brightness (and even some faint stuff) is nearly as bright as the brightest bits. This means there isn't as much dynamic range. BUT again, you have dark nebula with a large contrast. This means the dark portions are at a different "level" of contrast compared to the bright parts. 

    It is hard to put into words what I see with me eye (and feel)... but above is the feeling I get when looking at the image. It isn't as "luminous" as my particular style.

    Thanks Adam, that's very helpful. 

    Yes, I intentionally increased the contrast and even used the Dark Structure Enhance script as a final step. I did this to avoid a "washed out" image in comparison to many of the "highly liked" images on Astrobin. So, I may have overdone it a bit. 

    OK, I'll try to shoot for a more natural dynamic range and greater "luminosity."
