Subframe Selector (SFS)

When I run SFS "Measure"on my fits images I'm getting error messages in purple on each frame saying "noise estimates are not available in the image metadata and are being calculated from possibly non-raw or uncalibrated images. Image weights can be inaccurate."  Says same thing for PSG signal and noise scaling factors. It does post a graph however.

Are we supposed to run SFS AFTER we calibrate?  Or what do you think is going on here?

Thanks!

  • Hi Richard,

You are getting these messages, I believe, because you are measuring data taken with the version of PI that did not insert these numbers into the FITs headers. This will be true for all "old" data taken before roughly May of 2022. In order to do things properly... you will need to recalibrate the data (rerun WBPP). However, the accuracy of these measurements might not be so super critical for your particular data set... and you can just get on with it.
