Retracted Wish List Item for this forum

Hi Adam,
I am definitely a fan. I do have a suggestion that hopefully is workable. Currently you have over 450 .mp4 videos. Finding a video i want can be time consuming if surfing the website.

Well I was going to ask for a comprehensive catalog/video library listing by subject (ie HDRMT, or WBPP, etc), but I realize this would be a daunting task especially since many process/techniques are inside a complete processing video series.

So when you are in the middle of a video and routinely:):) say "you should check out my other video that details this process in depth",  I have a way to find that video instead of randomly surfing around your website for half an hour. Yes, over 450 videos on many different pages!

Solution: Since you really pay good attention to describe the content of each video with title name you assign, I now simply search as follows:
XXX site:adamblockstudios.com
Examples:
HDRMT site:adamblockstudios.com I get 6 results.
WBPP site:adamblockstudios.com I get 76 results!

What is nice is that all the results are videos, and not the myriad of discussions in the forum with the keyword in it.

So thank you for your excellent naming consistency.
Roger

  • Excellent! Thanks for sharing this tip with the rest of us.
  • Nice tip!

Right now, with the latest big changes in PixInsight I have a mountain of things to do.
I need to completely re-do FastTrack Training (obviously).
There are a number of other things to change as well.

But... one thing I am trying to do when I get time... is to create a page that I call "Step by Step."
It will have videos that are extracted from others (like one section of a processing workflow) or perhaps a new video I make specifically for this area- in which the videos just show the steps of some process or technique.

For example, I recently did a few videos the included deconvolution. These sections, although part of a larger thing- can stand alone in the step-by-step category. I think this would serve as a great reference. I would not have to create many videos- it is more of an organizational thing.

If anyone is interested... LOL- I could use some help in gathering good examples of sections are pretty much just the step-by-step things. The continuum subtraction I did with M51 in Horizons is a good example. It is a stand alone thing. The narrowband color modifiers is another stand alone section. The comet imagery is another. If I list these things in a single area- maybe this helps to be a good reference?

I might even make it a "product"... maybe people don't want to hear me blab on about stuff... and some of these sections would be of interest (of course, then they might want to go for more after seeing this stuff).

I don't know..I do know I need to change my model...

  • Hi Adam,
I will be watching for any Step by Step sections in your videos. Your FastTrack really comes pretty close to that, especially if you included a basic Powerpoint type flow chart.
I agree you that PI has had so many improvements, and some that shatter the old way. For example, in mid October 2022 you have the NGC1333 instructional video using PCC. Already that section of the video is outdated.
I think 2023 PI will settle down their processing. Or maybe they will develop their own AI processing like the Xterminator series!
It seems there could be an AI app, that examines a range of attributes about at a submitted image. Then outlines the best workflow with links to the specific Adam Block videos to do it.
