Process steps

edited November 2022 in PixInsight
Hi, Ive been struggling with PI for sometime and want to follow your process instead of pulling from mulitple sources.  Im trying to find out your process steps for a monochrome camera.  My plan is do go through each step (hopefully you have videos of each) to process.   Where can I find that info.

Also is there another quick method just to get started?

Thanks in advance and look forward to finally trying to get some success in processing!

BTW watched your series on WBPP and loved it....I like the way you teach!

Update... now that I posted this I see examples of processing steps.  Although there are several examples.   Im not sure if there is always the same process flow or does it vary depending on what your processing. For me I do both LRGB and some HA.  I guess overall Im not sure if I need to watch ALL the videos or it there just a few to get me started?

  • Hi Richard,

As you might imagine... there aren't any shortcuts. The process steps are not the same and it does often depend on the a number of different factors (and the data). Yeah, you need to watch all of the videos.
As you watch them, you will see many commonalities and the differences- and THAT is instructional. If you do not see different examples... and you look at only a few (or one) set of processing steps- you will not see the patterns. This is where I feel practice is important.

In my latest example of processing the widefield image of NGC 13333 you can see me save process icons- these are the steps. You can always watch my videos and create process icons as I go along.
This is your "job" as a student... just make the icons and save them as a project/template. You will quickly see the patterns!
