I am considering this- though I am not certain how much I would be able to add to the TAIC presentation.
Here is the thing- when I was asked to create videos for Pixinsight I began by learning the software and attempting to reach a level of proficiency with the software that would allow me to create videos on it. I began this in earnest in 2014. It was not until 2018 that I created my first videos on the software. I did this with both WBPP, NSG...etc. This is also why you will not (yet) see a video by me on John Murphy's Photometric Mosaic tool... I am getting closer on this one.
So in a parallel way, some members and the developers have petitioned that I check out this new complex script. I couldn't be proficient in its use- because it has just been released. So it feels weird to me. I try to do this and do not live up to the developer's expectations? They teach me so I can parrot it back? This is why I asked (in another thread) that a good demonstration of solving a problem in a new way would be good.
I do see this script as a really nice way to stretch images by interacting with transfer functions while looking at a live histogram. Being able to see a log plot of the histogram is very cool. In fact, I think PixInsight should adopt something like this. I do also think that the developers are overselling a few points- there are no free lunches.
So the bottom line is- if you feel *my explanation* of how this tool works and how to use it would be desired- I am very open to do it. It is even better when the developers value my explanatory muscles.
Thanks Adam. I did see the presentation on TAIC, and I've been dabbling about with the script with limited success. I think it is true to say that producing quality work (in any arena) is less a function of having the best tools than mastering the tools you have. That said, when a new tool becomes available it's worth looking at, to see if you can use it to improve your own work, and it's always beneficial to see how others (particularly experts) use it. All that to say I was just wondering if you'd been thinking of doing a video on it, as I'd be interested in seeing your "take".
I'm very much enjoying my subscription to Fundamentals, and as I get more comfortable with the software I'll definitely be looking at a Horizons subscription. Thanks for all your hard work. The videos are great.
I'm too am hoping you will consider doing a video with GHS. The TAIC talk is informative; I've been trying to get a better sense of how it works empirically with my images. I'd be very interested in your perspective.
