new NSG and normalization/drizzle

Adam,
I have been reviewing and trying to implement the New version NSG with normalization add on  based on your Tutorials.
If you are using pre calibrated data i.e. from Telescope Live information such as ALT, Noise, air mass are not in the Fits header.
When NSG is loaded the fields remain unpopulated. Also the NWEIGHT's for the .xnml files for the worst images are crazy "w194"
I am not sure if this is caused by trying to use drizzle.

Can NSG be used with pre-calibrated data (Telescope Live) where WBPP is not used and the fits header is not populated with ALT, Noise, air mass
fields?

Thanks Brent

  • The noise value in particular is calculated by PixInsight. In order to have proper weighting in Pixinsight (any method), you need to calibrate the raw data in PI... and go from there. NSG uses some of the calculated values and obviously all of the new PI weighting methods do as well.

(The alt/airmass and other things are not part of the calculation.)
