Instructional suggestion: from intention to processes

I'm following your fundamental video's and they are of great use. I'm reprocessing my older images now and i can see there was much more data available to be revealed, so thank you for that!

What would be of great use for me (and maybe for others as well):  
An instructional video or overview where the intention is leading, instead of the process. So more from 'what do i see -> what do i want to adjust -> wich process can i use for that?' The way how to use the process is already perfectly explained in the video's.

The reason behind this is that during processing i don't have all the possible processes in my head, but i certainly know the result i want to accomplish at that phase. When looking at the image i know 'now i want to dim the galaxy core', or at another moment 'i want to bring out the faint stuff in the background'. I'm convinced that i don't use some of the very useful processes or scripts that are maybe great for the result i want to accomplish at a certain stage. Another thing is when to make the switch from a linear to stretched image, i sometimes find myself trying to start a process in the wrong image state.

The process menu in pixinsight is somewhat organized but some processes are valid for multiple uses

Linear state
- Adjust image size or geometry  -> crop/ dynamic crop/rotate/etc
- Remove gradient or even out the background -> DBE / backgroundneutralization, etc
- Adjust colors ->colorcalibration/ PCC/ etc
-etc

Non-Linear state
- sharpen (parts of) the image -> MLT/MMT/HDRmultiscaletransform/etc
- emphasize specific colors ->curves/colorsaturation/etc
- enhance contrast ->curves/histogramtransformation
- enhance faint stuff ->curves/?
- etc

I absolutely do not want to use this question as a shameless promotion ^#(^ , i made this just to show non-astro people what kind of work goes into the final result. But as an explanation of my thinking process this timelapse shows what i wanted to do in every step of the processing.     Hi Helge,

    Another member was asking something very similar recently. One thing I want to do is create a document that outlines in one or two sentences what each process does and the common uses of them. I think this will help address some of what you are asking for.

    More abstractly I really answer your question by showing many of my videos what I process data sets completely from beginning to end. Many of these are in Horizons. Each image really does have different paths and needs. Each time you see a new method... you can store that away as a possible tool. You might be inclined to tell me it is hard to remember... yeah, I get that. But... this is an area I can only say the most effective way forward is practice. The piano teacher can only do so much... you just have to keep pressing those keys and practice. :)
