Star matches

Started to process some old data. Blink and then WBPP. Set up Cosmetic Correction and omitted Integration and ran WBPP. Next I had a look in theProcess Console. The error that showed up was “0 star pair matches found - need at least six matched stars”. In one case there was 5 star pair matches.

What does this mean? Is it the result of poor data?

  • Hi Hank,

The first thing to do is take a step back and look carefully at the calibrated data does it make sense what are the values??

In addition and it does take some reading but if you look in the detail log text file you’ll see exactly when the problem started. But I do think it’s easier just to simply look at the calibrated data blanket and see what’s going on.

Basically the idea here is prove that your calibrated data is good stuff that will eliminate many many possible issues and leave only the thing that you’re interested in finding out.

  • Thanks, Adam. Although the subs looked good before I started processing, looking at the calibrated files proved otherwise. They really are junk! Out of curiosity, I’m now going to look at the log text file and see what it has to tell me.

  • Yeah.. there is likely a calibration issue. It could be a configuration problem... or it could go all the back to an acquisition issue (like different gain settings for CMOS cameras). Many things to consider.
