Microlensing around bright stars

Hi

I'm new to astrophotography and Pixinsight but trying to get the best from a Bortle 7/8 sky.

Just wondering if somenone knows to deal with the microlensing effect that appears aroung bright stars like Alnitak.
I'm using a monochrome CMOS ZWO ASI1600MM with Baader CMOS optimized filters.
See the effect around Alnitak in the attached file

thanks a lot

  • This is an excellent result and to me Alnitak was far kinder to you here than to many imagers.
But to answer your question from my experience- there is no truly satisfactory method of "dealing" with the internal reflections caused by microlensing. There are some methods of minimizing the appearance- especially some of the color craziness- but in my experience, nothing too satisfactory. If you do find a good technique... please let me know!
