Hi Adam,I completed this workflow and very pleased with the instruction and my result. Thank you for your hard work and clear instructional video.
Previously (Feb 2021) I asked this:
"Curiosity question:
In Session 10 (Not NGC3486), you loaded data from 2012. With the power of Pixinsight today, would you expect you could get a better calibration end result than you did in 2012? Certainly it would be faster, to set up and run, but would the result be better? How, and Significantly?"
You Answered:
"Regarding the other question- I originally processed the data in CCDStack. Mathematically in terms of calibration there really should be no difference. There is no special way to subtract for the bias/darks and no special way to divide by flats. There might be some minor differences in the rejection algorithms... but nothing you would see visually. So... basically no difference in terms of *calibration*."
Roger today comment:
At the time I wrote the above I did not really understand how much post processing could do. With your recent Fudamentals Workflow NGC3486 series you solidly answered my question when you compared your 2021 result with your 2018 result. Very different and much better today. Not a style difference but a real difference in artifacts, etc.
Great series!
Roger
