Photometric Color Calibration

I downloaded all of the star catalogue info that Adam recommended for this function to my computer. I assumed because all of this information is located on my computer that I don't need to utilized one of the remote locations of these data, for example in France. I will be working off the grid at times with no internet connection. I guess, my question is this. If all of the info is already on my computer why do I have to select a database server? Thanks

  • If you keep it on "Auto" ...you do not need to select anything- it defaults to the local catalogues first.
(You can see in the console which catalogue it chose (or you have forced it to use)).

  • Quick follow up. It sounds like I need to be on line for this function to work. Correct?
  • Hi Paul,

Sorry, I do not understand your question.
If you have the local catalogues (like I show in FastTrack Training)- you do not need to be on-line- everything is on your computer!

You only need to be on-line if you are NOT using your local star catalogues...but this is unnecessary if you have them.

  • That is the answer I was looking for. Thank you Adam. I was confused, becasue you still have to pick a location, like France. It would seem that would be blocked out if you had the data on your drive already.

Sorry Paul...I wonder if we are on the same page. You do not have to pick a location if Auto is checked.
See the image below. Although the data location server can be changed... it isn't in effect with local catalogues and Auto.

  • Thanks Adam for making sure I understand. I got it now.
