WBPP - What now?

Hi - I've been watching the WBPP videos and I seem to have been able to put my images through that process OK and got masters etc. out the other end.
I'm completely new at this and I'm struggling to work out what is next? What are the steps from here to a final image?
Thanks
Hugh

  • Well... there are a couple of approaches. My default teaching method is to explain lot of concepts and tool *first* before showing fully worked examples. So I would step Through the initial videos of Fundamentals in order (I assume you completed FastTrack Training).

However, if you cannot wait (and you look to read the endings of books first)- then you can proceed to check out the Workflow example videos. They will take you step-by-step through example data (that you can download) and see the types of things to "do next."

WorkFlow videos are at the bottom of the Fundamentals main page. The direct link to the workflow examples is here:

  • Wonderful - thanks for your response - will do both suggestions
I do want to "get a picture" as quickly as I can though - just so I can say I've done it :-)

    Many thanks

  • Hello, I just finished the Basic Fast course without problems, Last Friday I shot 60 frames to the area surrounding 21 Cygni, 60s each frame, IDAS NB1 Filter, William Optics Gt 81.

I shot Flats and DarkFlats with the NINA´s Flat Wizard and Darks also.

I followed every step of the course, but the WPP can´t finish the plate solve, one of the error messages says that the coordinates of the object are outside the frame????? I triple checked the alignment and is OK! any idea of what is happening?

    Thanks
  • There are a number of things that can cause issues. Most of them deal with the data itself.
Are you certain it is WBPP where there is an issue? Photometric Color Calibration is where plate solving happens. StarAlignment can give you issues... but it isn't plate solving the images.

When there is an issue- the first thing to do is demonstrate what the problem ISN"T. It isn't this...and show a screenshot...and it isn't this...and show another screen capture. Then we can find the answer fast! Screenshots and shared images are helpful.

Lots of this kind of information is addressed in Fundamentals.
If you use the discount code "fasttrack" ..you can subtract $60 from Fundamentals if you are interested and enjoy my method/style of instruction.

  • Thank you so much for your answer, and yes I will do the Fundamentals, and as soon as the blessed cluds go away I will run another test and show the images.
