New Narrowband Normalization Tool

Has anyone tried this new tool available in the new version of PI?  I am months away from imaging again in Florida, so I was curious about it.  I watched a YouTube video on it, but I must confess, I don't understand the apparent big fuss over it.  So, I figure I am missing something.  Any feedback on it would be appreciated.

  • This new PixInsight Process (which Bill Blanchard and Mike Cranfield have migrated from pixel math) looks very promising for both OSC and narrowband processing.  I also watched the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6se3b1ZotMc and it seems to help a lot with the tedious job of getting colors and/or hues right.  However, it does require the image to be non-linear... which is different than how I current process narrowband.

I'm wondering if we can persuade Jedi Adam to produce a video on how to best leverage this process???  I still have a lot to learn when it comes to processing narrowband images.

    Fingers crossed.

  • I am currently producing videos on NB processing.
You probably will not be surprised to learn my approach is different.
I am waiting on publishing them... because of a development which I hope people will like.

  • I will be curious to see them, Adam. I have been doing NB imaging for a long time and the current approaches and tools (like the newer version of CM script) work really well.
  • That's awesome Adam... I would have expected nothing less!
