Photometric Mosaic won't run

Hi,

I am having problems with Photometric Mosaic. It starts running and just stops with no error message. Below is the log.

It is a very large mosaic. each frame is 19426 x 13163 as you can see above. The resulting mosaic will be over 30K x 15k. Is there some size limit? I double checked that each frame has been through image solver. It is weird in that it just stops and comes back to ready with no error message or indication anything is wrong. As you can see it never even gets to processing the second panel.

Any ideas or suggestions welcomed.

Thanks,

Bernard

  • I guess I am confused.
When using Photometric Mosaic you build things up from pairs of images.
So you have two images... use Mosaic by COords. Stitch together.
Do this for another pair. Then put your two new panels together (using MosaicbyCoordinates).
I know this works... I do fear there may be a memory issue...and I am not convinced this is an optimal way to build the Mosaic?

  • Adam,

Yes. I have two images that have been plate solved and I am attempting to use Mosaic by coordinates to create the two new images that are half black and half one of the images. However, when I try to do this, I get the log file you see and it just stops after analyzing the first image and never creates the two new images. As far as memory goes, I have 128G on my system.

    Thanks,

    Bernard

  • Adam,

I forgot to mention that when I click Okay, I get a pop up that says "The resulting image will be quite big. Do you want to continue?". I click yes and then it produces the log file above and does not create the new images.

  • Yeah, this is a John Murphy question....
It does appear to be memory related based on your description.

John maintains a forum/thread on the official PI pages.
    I would suggest asking there.
He does frequent here... but for whatever reason I can't get my system to notify @johnmurphy .
