In my last setup, I was running a SBIG STF8300 and had LRGB Astrodon filters. The scope was a C 9.25 at F/10 (which is still my main scope). My exposures were 10 minutes for luminance and 5 minutes for color.
I've sold that camera and now use a QHY268M with CFW-L (I wanted to keep my 50 mm Astrodon filters).
I took some test images last week at Cherry Springs State Park, learning how to work with NINA and the camera in the process.
I noticed that 5 minute exposures of M101 seemed overexposed. It was also an hour from meridian flip when I started imaging, so I switched to M27. Clouds were coming in and there was some wind. But I got an LRGB set of 3 minute exposures at F/10.
I have 2 questions: Is it typical to see exposure times cut by 2/3 going from KAF CCD chips to the Sony 26.8 mp chips? And should I stop taking luminence images unless I want a monochrome image?
