Calculate read and gain

Hi Adam,

I would like to use Mure Denoise on some old image sessions, but I do not have the original Darks and Flats. I do have the Masters that were created when I first processed the image. So, is there a way to calculate the read and gain noise. As a side note, I now run the script MureDenoiseDetector script on the Flats and Darks before deleting the originals.

Best regards
John

  • The readnoise and gain should really not change significantly for your camera .
So if you can find any set of flats and biases/darks.. that would do the trick.
You could take some today and apply the calculated answer to the old data.
You do really need two of them since you need the difference between them to calculate the readnoise and the Poisson noise. That is why a single master file will not work. I don't think using master files (if you have multiples of them) would work either? (would need to think about this..but I think something would be averaged out).
