NGC6210

Hi Adam

I know you imaged this beautiful and unusual planetary nebula in the past.  I tried to image it the other night using my C11" SCT with a 3.76 pixel size mono camera.  I did capture it using Ha and OIII Chroma filters but it came out as a white blob.  It was clearly overexposed at 5 minutes per frame for a total of 8 hours.  Does this PN require very short exposures like a star cluster?  Say, 30" per frame?

  • Very likely yes! It is nearly stellar except for the outer parts.
You fell into the automation trap didn't you? (you should also examine the first data as it comes in!)
