WBPP fundamentals - Calibrate only video

edited March 2023 in PixInsight
Didnt want to start another thread but following the WBPP calibrate only video when I look at the calibration diagram for master flats I get this which does not use darks to get a calibrated flat, anyone else seen this?

  • Hi Angus,

You need to think about that diagram for a moment... this is a good lesson in understanding things.
Look closely at the file you have highlighted.... I will repeat what you just said..it is a MASTER flat...

    Write back the answer!

Got it now, I had run it once so it had already created the masters, thanks for your patience. I am having trouble to understand how to use the linear symmetries in DBE. In fundamentals there is a fantastic description of how to use the radial symmetry, could you possibly add the H, V and D symmetries to the video? here is my headache integrated image. I got a reasonably flat field using brute force but I think that my answer may lay in using linear symmetries in a creative way?

  • Hi,

Based on the "gradient" in the image- I am suspecting that flat fielding is not optimal (or there is scattered light that is part of the equation).

But given the current non-uniformities... did you see this video?:
