Yet Another Image Solver\SPCC Problem

Before SPCC I was able to use PCC without any problems, now I have problems when trying to use SPCC. I have downloaded to "Whole Universe" of DR3 and SP star catalogs and have instructed Gaia as to where they are on my "D" drive. The image I am using is in Linear format. The RA and DEC appear in the FITS Header and are correct.
When I use the image solver I can see in the Pixinsight info pane it going through all 16(?) of the catalogs and then I end up with this.....
"*** Error: Found too few stars. The magnitude filter could be too strict, or the catalog server could be malfunctioning  and then ultimately this ...... *** Error: Unable to plate solve image: Alignment failed.

When I try to use SPCC I get this error message ..
*** Error: ZLib compression: Failed to uncompress subblock data (offset=0 usize=6144 csize=5235) and then of course this
*** Error: No catalog stars found
The same image will work in PPC and when I sent the same image to a friend of mine, he is able to run it in SPCC so it doesn't seem to be the image itself.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to resolve this?

Thanks

Gregg

  • Hmmm... well the first error could be a number of things.
The second one concerns me though. Even though you may have the "universe" of catalogs... that message implies that one or more might still be corrupt (errors during download).

I wonder if PI would consider making a "verification" script or something that checks if all of the files are viable.

The fact that it is OK for your friend further strengthens my guess it is that your catalogs are not quite all there if you will...

  • OK thank you Adam, I will download both catalogs again!

  • Hello Adam,

I downloaded the Dr3\SP catalog again and get the same error messages in PI, Something is still not right so I will continue to work on it.

    Thanks for your suggestion!
