Exponential Transformation - PIP

Hello Adam.

After reviewing the video on Exponential Transformation, I got the feeling that it was a sophisticated and more automated application of Curves Transformation.  Am I right, or did I miss the boat?

Thank you.

  • Hmmm... I would say that Exponential Transform produces a family of transfer curves...but they are of a particular shape. You can't put a "bend" in them anywhere. Curves is fully generalized and flexible. So Exponential Transform is a subset of Curves (in a way).

The point with a tool like Exponential Transform is that you will get a reproducible result...something you expect based on the input data. Curves is more of a freeform tool (obviously with greater control of channels and such).

    I hope that makes sense.
