Lost FITS Information

Hi Adam.  After creating separate Starless and Star images, and then working with the Starless image I combined it back with the Stars using Pixel Math (Starless + Stars).  However, the recombined image contained no FITS Header information even though the separate Starless and Star images did contain all the FITS Header information.  I only discovered this problem when I tried to use the Image Annotation Script and found there was no astrometric solution to the recombined image file.

Have you seen this particular problem?  I've attached a dropbox link with the files here:

Thanks

Reggie

  • Yeah... pixel math does not keep that information when creating new images.
You can copy the astrometric solution from one of the original images to the newly created one if you want using the CopyCoordinates script.

  • Ah Ok, Thanks Adam - as a side question, is there an Advanced Imaging Conference scheduled for later this year?  I'm not finding any info for this year.

    Thanks

    Reggie
  • No. Right now we are on a two year cycle. So the next one would be in 2024 with a date to be determined (probably the fall).
