Fundamentals Topic

The Fast Track Training section is really good at introducing Pixinsight to new users.  One topic that is not included is one on equipment.  It would be nice to have one video on what is the recommended computer, graphics card, monitor, etc.  I notice in the videos Adam has an unusual monitor and wondered what model it was.

My old desktop PC died recently and as luck would have it I needed to buy it right before Cyber Monday sale.  I was able to purchase a HPZ2 G9 for a little over $1000.  It had a 20 core i7 processor, 32 GB of memory and a nVidia T400 graphics card.  The T400 is optimized for CUDA processing.  I followed along on the new Fast Track training using the supplied data on the Flaming Star nebula.  I matched Adam's processing to the full 481 lights files.  His processing required 27:05:35 hr:min:sec.  Expecting the same time I was surprised to see it took only 3:55:25 .  This is a 691% improvement in the processing time!  I also got a really good deal on a 27" Dell 4K monitor for $250 so all in I have a super fast and high quality display for $1250.

It is a good time to do some upgrading so a video on the subject would be a welcome addition IMHO.
