JWST Data

With the release of the JWST data, I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm getting hung up on trying to combine the data into 1 image. The data was taken with 6 filters( 090, 187, 212, 356, 405 and 470). I'm struggling to get the right combinations in pixel math to give me the a correct looking color. I either get too yellow or too gold. I've attached a link to the website for the filter colors.

Thanks,

Shawn

  • I hope you get a good answer to this. I had the same problem, but I also found that sometimes I didn't get any color after combining filters. I would like to know exactly how one takes gray scale images from JWST and combines them into an appropriate color model that can be adjusted to bring out features.
  • I found a Youtube video that talked about a script that handles this. It's called combine images through dc-scripts that I found and installed. Although I haven't had much success getting the colors to come close. I'll attach a screen shot of the script and you should be able to find it on a google search. Here is the video that I found that explains this script.

    Thanks,

  • Shawn,
I have made some progress since this posting, and I have been able to produce a few good images, not great, but OK. But there are problems, so I am going to start a new thread tonight. The combination you asked about in this thread is easily solved by adding the filter files in PixelMath under the proper color tab with no weightings or with weightings of your choice, unchecking "use a single RGB expression", and selecting RGB as the color format. There are examples in my other posts, which will be referenced in my posts tonight, or searched via JWST in the Pixinsight forum and Cloudy Nights.
