"What a Year can Be" feedback

Adam,

In your email you requested feedback on future content and things you might further cover in NB processing. I was very interested in the procedures and techniques described in the processing of Ou4, the Flying Bat or Squid Nebula. But Ou4 was more of a special case with a small oxygen/blue region found within a sea of mostly Ha/SII red nebula or background. I would be even more interested how you might handle a more typical object like say the PacMan or Tadpoles Nebulas where each channel is fairly strong and intertwined and present throughout the whole of the nebula. And also, how you might use the Hubble Palette to color a more typical example like these.

Just my two cents.

Thanks,

John

  • Hi John,

    I understand. As I mentioned in my e-mail I have another data set in the hopper (NGC 3199) that I think fits the bill. I do know that I have little interest in making green images! So I will probably will not do SHO explicitly as a color mapping scheme- but this shouldn't matter in terms of how to handle the processing.

  • Looking forward to what may come forth hence then!

    Thanks

  • Hi,
    Is NGC3199 going to be Telescope Live data since visibly mainly from Southern Hemisphere?
    Roger
  • No it is not. You will have access to it.
    (I heard you the first time Roger!)
    if(function rt(){return!!window.Ember||(!!window.Vue||(!!window.Meteor||(!(!window.React&&!document.querySelector("[data-reactroot], [data-reactid]"))||!!(window.angular||document.querySelector(".ng-binding, [ng-app], [data-ng-app], [ng-controller], [data-ng-controller], [ng-repeat], [data-ng-repeat]")||document.querySelector('script[src*="angular.js"], script[src*="angular.min.js"]')))))}()){window.postMessage({singlePageAppCheck:true})}else{window.postMessage({singlePageAppCheck:false})}

  • Yes, I am smiling at your reply!
    And more relaxed that NGC3199 data will be included along with the videos.
