Fasttrack WBPP not calibrating one image correctly

Hi,

I'm new to astrophotography and Pixinsight (just downoaded a trial version 1.8.8-9) and am going through Fasttrack tutorials. In WBPP (v2.2.0) the screen is somewhat different than the tutorial video but I think I understand the differences and have made the correct settings. I'm using the sample data provided with Fasttrack and when i Blink the debayered files the first image is not correct, the dust motes and vignetting are still present. Looking at the fits header I see that the gain and offset are different than the other light, bias, dark and flat files. Will that result in calibration failing for that single image? I got no warning error during processing. All help is appreciated.

Jim

  • Yes, that is exactly right. The different settings will mean it will not calibrate well.
(It does not calibrate for me either.)

So you did exactly the right thing to look in the header and figure it out. Consider it an "Easter Egg" . lol

Concerning the differences in WBPP... that is tough one. The scripts (and program) continues to change rapidly. This video was NOT published that long ago! (And you are looking at an update from an even earlier version.) But as you say, the differences are still minor. I have even more updated tutorials in Fundamentals that keep things current
