Problem with PCC not finding stars to color calibrate

Hi.  When I use PCC to color calibrate my image, I get the error listed below.  I've tried changing limiting magnitude settings and I also checked the FITs header but didn't see any problems.  Not sure what the problem is with the image or what to try next.  The data is Telescope Live 1-Click dataset of M94.  I've put the xisf file in a shared Dropbox folder that you should have access to via ngc1535@caelumobservatory.com but please let me know if you don't see it.

Suggestions?

  • Yes, there are a few areas of the sky, particularly in the northern galactic latitudes for which the catalogs are not complete. I suspect this is the issue....

Indeed... I tried. For future reference you left out the important part of the log on the console!
    This part of the key:

    * Using an automatically calculated limit magnitude of 27.91.

    Executing APASS DR10 search command...

    7 sources found.

Catalog APASS DR10 (XPSD): 0 objects inside the image.

    Catalog stars: 7

    Star search aperture: 6.06 pixels

    1 view(s)

    0 star(s)

    0 PSF fittings

APASS the photometry catalog used to measure the colors. Your image did correctly solve with the other catalog.

I would suggest for this image, use the two step "manual" color calibration method. It will work out just fine.

  • Thanks Adam; sorry I thought I'd captured everything in the screen print.  I didn't think of an issue where catalogs were't complete but it makes sense.
