Star de-emphasis method Starnet issue

Hello all.

I've ben dealing with an stars-only image like Double cluster in Perseo.

I tried with success the Star de-emphasis method, but the old one. Not the Starnet update.

With Starnet, I don't now why, I got big squares. The image is stretched. (See attached image)

Do you know what's the matter with that?

Anyway, with the first method (making manually the Sub_pix) it was really great!!

I attach several images showing the result compared with the original image.
I used two iterations.

The result is amazing!

PS: I couldn't use it with the big stars in the core of each cluster. They were pretty close one to each other, and they enlarged a lot at the stretching phase.

Thank you!
Fernando

  • Hi Fernando,

Please try to change the stride value to a smaller number. I think this will help (but I cannot guarantee it.)
It will take a little longer to process. I suspect the squares are showing up mostly because the background is dark.

Your example... is really fantastic! May I show it off on FB?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Adam.
I tried with smaller numbers, but the result is not very good.
I think so: the background is very dark.

Yes, of course you can use them! It’s a pleasure for me. And it’s your method!.

I have used it with success also in two more images.
    Thank you
