CMOS camera and flat durations

Hello Adam,

I was viewing one of your lessons in fundamentals on CMOS camera processing and in it you had recommended taking flats of 5 seconds and longer. I agree with this in most cases but I have one camera the (original ZWO ASI 1600MM-Cool) that does not have the DDR buffer and flats over 5 seconds caused me problems. I posted about it on CN here https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/614330-a-tale-of-3-flats-same-adu-different-exposures-asi1600mm-c/?hl=flats#entry8516262

Now this is an oddball camera, but I just wanted to point out that each camera can have its quirks regarding flats. For example my ASI 294MC likes flats with the gain set to 250 or higher even though my lights use unity gain at 120.
